Success for New Sustainable Solutions

After major investment into new product development in the last year, Southgate is celebrating the success of its new sustainable solutions.

The new launches are part of Southgate’s ongoing mission to lead the industry in developing sustainable packaging alternatives. In the last year, Southgate has launched many new sustainable products including PET Tape made from 85% recycled plastic, Xtegra Tegrabond Water Activated Tape Case Taper and the PWN4 Air Pillow System.

The success of the sustainable alternatives follows recent research by Aquapak that revealed over 50% of UK consumers would be willing to pay more for environmentally friendly packaging when purchasing clothing and accessories. This discovery proves consumers’ dedication to moving towards eco-friendly packaging and the increase in demand for sustainable alternatives.

Southgate is committed to offering a line of alternative products to expand its current range and drastically reduce packaging waste and plastic content.

Darren Smith, Head of Marketing at Southgate said: “2022 is already proving itself to be a year of sustainable innovation in the industry and we’re proud to be playing our part. As demand continues to grow and eco-friendly products become a high priority for consumers, we’ve been working hard to introduce new products and widen our offering.”

The launch of Southgate’s new recycled PET Tape has proven popular in recent months. It offers high mechanical tear resistance and its reduced thickness allows a saving of more than 20% of plastics.

Southgate enjoyed another successful appearance at this year’s Packaging Innovations, where the company showcased its wide range of products to potential buyers.

“Whenever we demonstrate our new products, we are always blown away with the positive response they receive. It’s very rewarding to see such interest in our new ranges we have launched in the past year, and we look forward to unveiling the new exciting projects still to come.”

Southgate achieved a Silver EcoVadis rating, showcasing its focus on driving sustainability within its business and the wider industry. The rating recognises Southgate’s ongoing commitment to offering innovative, eco-friendly packaging alternatives.
