Southgate Success at IntraLogisteX

Southgate Packaging have had a hugely successful first ever appearance at IntraLogisteX. The exhibition, focused on logistics professional’s who are looking for solutions to their current and future challenges, was held in the Ricoh Arena, Coventry. Vendors specialisms ranged from the latest materials handling technologies to full-scale warehouse automation options. The event is designed for end user practitioner logistics professionals including warehouse managers, heads of distribution, IT directors and project managers.

This past year we have seen a dramatic growth in the use of 3PL, specifically relating to the ecommerce sector with a 48% increase on online sales in 2020 compared to the previous years[1]. Leading the way in sustainable product innovation, Southgate showcased a range of environmentally conscious alternatives.

With the main focus for Southgate being on sustainability, new launches including Water Activated Tape Dispensers, AirWave Void Fill, and a range of plastic packaging alternatives including Paper Mailers and Paper Doc Wallets. There was a huge amount of interest in the UK Packaging Awards shortlisted carbon neutral air pillows which are made from more than 53% recycled content, most of which is collected postconsumer plastic waste. Alongside these void fill alternatives, Southgate featured machinery such as the X-fill dispenser which uses kraft paper to create protective void fill cushioning. Additionally, our shredders enable you to repurpose discarded cardboard to create protective matting.

As an industry leader, Southgate is committed to developing alternative products to significantly reduce packaging waste and plastic content. The company continues to expand its sustainable range whilst reducing plastic content, finding more sustainable alternatives whilst maintaining quality.

Its focus on sustainability feeds into Southgate’s wider ambition to develop and promote the idea of a circular economy – inspiring businesses to embrace the global solution to eliminating waste.

In addition, IntraLogisteX saw a return of the Pacplan benches, carts and trollies as part of Southgate’s fulfilment range. Pacplan Tecknik methodology assesses the overall impact and benefits of an entire system that not only streamlines workflow but also reduce physical stress on the operator. All components are CAD designed and manufactured in Great Britain using materials that are selected for their strength and durability.
