Southgate, as a company and as individuals, love to support charities both local and national. During lockdown this was fairly limited, but now we are back!
Five individuals across the business have teamed up to run in the Cambridge Half Marathon on Sunday 17th October. Matthew, Wayne, Laura, Edgar and Darren will be ready to start the run at 9am on a forecasted cloudy morning. The route will start on Midsummer Common in Cambridge taking them through King’s and Jesus Colleges, as well as the beautiful route out through Grantchester and Trumpington.
The charity headline partner is Cancer Research UK though runners will be raising funds across numerous charities close to their hearts.
The Southgate team will be raising money for East Anglian Air Ambulance, an air ambulance providing Helicopter Emergency Medical Services across the English counties of Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire. The EAAA receive no regular government funding and completely rely on the community they serve to keep them flying and saving lives across East Anglia.
The Southgate team have a range of experience when it comes to running. Both Matthew and Wayne compete in regular events including marathons and ultra-marathons. Laura and Edgar enjoy regular running and keep fit. For Darren this will be his 7th Cambridge Half Marathon.
Team Captain Darren said, “This is very exciting to be part of a team this year and something Southgate are really proud to be involved with. It’s fantastic to be raising money for the East Anglian Air Ambulance and we hope to be joining in more events in the coming months.”
