Under the mantra of ‘fewer paces, faster pace’ we will be presenting a key selection of products and systems. These will significantly increase operational efficiency particularly in the order fulfilment sector. Products that shrink fulfilment costs and order processing times by streamlining workflow and placing everything within easy reach of the packer.
Central to this efficiency is the highly-successful Pacplan® Technik™ bespoke pack station system. This is now installed in many UK distribution centres operating on behalf of key clients in the e-commerce sector. Rather than bolting together a selection of modular storage and workbench units, this system is designed to precisely match the unique requirements of each application and create ergonomic working environments.
Pacplan Technik will also be augmented at the show by the Pacplan AirWave air pillow void fill system, Optimax TRS650B automatic arch strapper with belt driven table and Tegrabond water activated tapes with the universally-popular BP555 tape dispenser.
Optimax will also be represented by the RSW6 robotic pallet shrink wrapper which we launched to great acclaim at last year’s Multimodal Show. This brings automated shrink wrapping to palletised loads that are too large, too heavy or too unstable to be wrapped on a conventional turntable machine. The RSW6 will be one of many products being demonstrated live on Stand K48.
The AirWave system will also be demonstrating how large volumes of void fill can be quickly created on demand without occupying much storage space before use. Air pillow is the only void fill endorsed by some major names in the e-commerce market. It’s a low-compression, dust-free, easy-disposal product.
A new development in impulse heat sealing will be marked by the launch of the Hacona E-Type series. The launch builds on the success of the S-Type. This new model features Adaptive Sealing Cycle Control (ASCC), digital temperature and cycle time adjustment and a thicker film sealing capacity. An electrical foot pedal driving a motorised sealing bar also replaces the former’s treadle and chain mechanism for greater versatility.
A section of the stand is dedicated to the progress that Southgate is making in the development of greener products. These offer real alternatives without affecting profitability or productivity. In many cases they have even been shown to save money and work more effectively. This includes Southgate’s own Biofilm™ bio-compostable air pillow film, which is compatible with the AirWave system. Once added to composting medium will rapidly break down into water, carbon dioxide and harmless minerals that naturally occur in soil.
