Battle of the Bands

If you are banding large items or palletised loads, there’s a high chance that you will be using a manual strapping tool. This is fine for occasional use, but if your throughput increases you could soon find yourself on the ropes. Before you throw in the towel, consider switching to a friction weld tool.

Take for example the ZXT from Optimax®, weighing in at only 3.5kg but punching above its weight to deliver up to 400kg strap tension. It’s fast on its feet, too – as soon as both ends of the strap are between its teeth, one jab and the strap is tensioned, sealed and cut, leaving manual tools out for the count.

A lithium-ion battery gives it enough punching power to last the full twelve rounds, and its patented gripper design keeps up the tension to the end. It can take on all comers – polypropylene and polyester, from 12 to 19mm wide and 0.65 to 1.27 microns thick – and although it can sting like a bee with heavy loads such as construction materials, its soft mode means it can float like a butterfly for lighter or more fragile loads.

Sturdy construction and a patented brushless motor ensure this undisputed champion of the strapping ring continues to deliver a knockout performance, particularly when it has Safeguard® strapping and accessories as its trusted cornermen.

Optimax strapping tools and Safeguard polypropylene and polyester strapping are supplied by Southgate through its network of approved distributors throughout the UK and across Europe.
